Modern Colt Men

Readers of this blog know I am a pretty big fan of Colt Studios. But, like a lot of my friends, I prefer the older, more classic Colt models. These current guys just lack the sexiness of the earlier era. I guess I'd sum it up this way: there's more to sexuality than being jacked to Hell on 'roids. Thoughts?

  1. I agree with you 100%. After Rutherford purchased the studio, that unmistakable edge that made a true Colt man just went out the door. The classic Colt men were practically "unattainable" in terms of masculinity. Most of them posed and the porn was rare and special. Today, all the guys are porn stars. The celebration is more on the sex and less on the masculinity. The videos are good and the guys are handsome, but the energy is not the same. Its all about bodybuilders sleeping with each other on screen.

  2. I couldn't have said it better, Pete. I agree with you 100%. The modern Colt man is, to be blunt, a bore. Most of them have no chemistry whatsoever. Where's that smoldering hottness that used to define the Studio? It certainly isn't with the current crop.

  3. The only current guy who has the true Colt look is Carlo Masi.

  4. I have noticed that many studios seek models from foreign countries. Also, many studios seem to tie sex to masculinity. One thing I appreciated about Colt was that you could appreciate a guy for his manhood and preserve the mystery of what he is like in bed. Pete Kuzak is a perfect example - tons of pics but not one sex scene. That mystery maintains my interest in him.

I think it has to do with pay, too. Guys in America who have the Colt look undoubtedly want a nice chunk of change just to post nude. Why pose nude for a gay magazine or site when the market is so much bigger for keeping those trunks on. The only guys that seem to have the Colt look are IFBB bodybuilders, and those guys won't do it because nudity seems to spell the end of their quest for a Sandow. Guys in countries like France, Brazil or Argentina seem to be more willing to celebrate their masculinity with those that appreciate it and are willing to pay for it.

  5. I'm 31 years old. I became acquainted with Colt Studios at 18 years of age when the main men were Carl Hardwick, Franco Corelli, Pete Kuzak, Jake Tanner and Mike Timber. Colt studio men back then carry a true and intense aura of masculinity. The men were unknown and not neccessarily porn stars.. maybe with the exception of BRUNO. Besides their pictures you knew nothing about these models which carried a strong sense of mystery.(I'm still trying to find out the real name of Franco Corelli!) lol Even in COLT videos and dvds the models weren't porn stars and had great chemistry, basically because alot of the men were actual lovers at the time like Mike Betts and Rick Wolfmier and Jake Tanner and Ed Dinakos. Colt Studios wasn't even porn it was gay art. I've literally spent maybe over a thousand dollars on Colt Studio items over the years. I stopped when John Rutherford bought Colt Studios and got rid of the "Butt Beautiful " calendar series among other things. Today's Colt Studio models are good looking but they're not even in the same league as the Colt models under Rip Colt aka Jim French. Colt Studios isn't even unique anymore. It's just like every other porn studio. There's no chemistry with these models. These pics above of Luke Garrett... I read a review which basically said he has no chemistry with the guys he's having sex with in these dvds and one of the guys is his real life boyfriend, Gage Weston! I seen an interview with Titan Studios/Raging Stallions Studio actor jake Deckard in which he stated in the beginning of his career he always wanted to be a Colt Studio model until John Rutherford bought the studio. "It just wasn't the same" Deckard replied. It's pretty sad when hardcore porn stars don't even like what Colt has become..

  6. I think what has happened to Colt is a real shame. It's a institution that just isn't what it could and should be. Here's an example: What's up with the bed in the cow pasture? Almost all of the current pix are taken on a bed in the middle of a grassy field. I just don't get it. It's very, very sad.
